Sharing the border with Delhi, Gurgaon is part of the National Capital Region (NCR). The locational advantage combined with its vicinity to the Delhi Airport, was one of the primary reasons for a lot of companies setting up offices in Gurgaon that directly resulted in the city witnessing high economic growth in the last decade. These Multi National Companies attracted the best talent which also improved housing standards and led to the development of modern high rise condominiums besides a large number of tourist-friendly malls, restaurants and hotels besides Service Apartments in Gurgaon.
Another big step in pushing Gurgaon towards becoming the Millenium City was the advent of Delhi Metro that connected Gurgaon to Delhi via a world class transportation system. The Yellow Line of Delhi Metro runs from near the IFFCO Chowk (HUDA City Centre Station) and goes along MG Road to Delhi and now further to even Noida through the Connaught Place interchange station. You can reach Connaught Place in about 50 minutes and the travel will cost you around Rs 25 one way.
On 2nd October 2013, the Rapid Metro was also thrown open to the public in Gurgaon. The Rapid Metro is Gurgaon’s own Metro that offers last mile conectivity from the Delhi Metro (Sikanderpur Station) to DLF Phase 2, Cyber City and DLF Phase 3 areas.
While the city is dotted with Shopping Malls, other notable attractions that you can visit are – Kingdom of Dreams, Epicentre, Damdama Lake, Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary and Neemrana Fort which is a short drive from Gurgaon. The city also has a lot of Golf Courses most notably the DLF Golf Club on the Golf Course Road.
In the last few years, a lot of top hospitals have also opened up in Gurgaon including the Medanta Medicity Hospital, Fortis Hospital, MAX Hospital & World Laparoscopy Hospital among others. These hospitals are frequented by Medical Tourists from across the world.
As for Gurgaon’s weather, the city has a typical north Indian climate just like that of neighbouring Delhi. The summers are usually very hot and humid especially in the months of May to July and the winter months of December through February can get quite cold and foggy.
